Last week I was pretty honest about my new workout schedule and it’s hard work on the body and mind. I remembered something I used to do when I was dancing and that was an Epsom salt bath.
Epsom Salts if you haven’t heard about them offer a great health benefits to the body. Add them to a warm bath, lie back and relax. Using about 300-500 grams per bath once a week can give you great detox benefits. When placed in warm water the salts absorb into the body and replenishes the magnesium. Magnesium also creates serotonin in the brain making you feel happy and relaxed. Magnesium can also increase stamina but also lowers the effects of adrenaline making you feel relaxed improve sleep and help muscles and nerves function better. It also relieves pain and muscle cramps, helps prevent hardening of arteries and blood clots, makes insulin more effective, relieves constipation if taken orally (check with a doctor first) and eliminates toxins.

The powerful element of Epsom Salts makes it ideal for an after workout relaxation and recovery session. At least twice a week I have been doing this and it’s been such a relief, I soak for about 20 mins and the add my own oils, never at the beginning as it will change the effects of the salts. They are so easy to find and buy and a 1kg bag is only about £4.50 on Amazon.
So give it a go, these salts are not suitable for those with high blood pressure, and always check with your doctor before using.
