Sorry for the being quiet on here the last few days, it’s the season for colds and my little ones needed even more attention last week.
Anyway.. I went to visit my husband at work on Friday, and I took the chance to visit Space NK in Canary Wharf. This is one of the nicest branches i’ve ever been too, the staff are so friendly and the lady on the Nars counter is amazing at colour matching. She was so friendly and lovely to my children, I could of stayed in the store for hours.
I was looking to buy a new foundation, I have quite a few drugstore brands, but wanted a high end offering for special occasions. Nars shear glow has such a cult following that I had to try it. It has such a brilliant colour range and the way she matched me was different to how I have been matched before.
First she put 3 colours that she thought were close to mine on my cheek, and asked me to pick which one I really didn’t like, it then made it easier to see which shade really matched my skin, and we went with Tahoe.
The finish is a medium cover that you can easily build up, it also has a satin finish. I have very oily skin and needed to powder my t-zone but it felt comfortable on my skin for the rest of the day. I was also advised, as my skin around my chin is slightly darker, to use a little of the Radiant Creamy Concealer around my chin and blend it. Amande was the colour she went for and it added a little warmth to my chin and stopped it looking ashy. Unfortunately they didn’t have this in stock, but I’ve ordered it and it should be with me soon!
I then asked about the Audacious lipsticks. I liked the range but there wasn’t a colour I thought I must have on the spot, but we started to chat about colours and how I tend to buy mauve shades and she brought out a Velvet Lip Liner in El Agua. This is not a colour I would ever try, as its a lavender pink tone that I would assume would suit pale skin more but I trusted the consultant and gave it a go. I love love love the colour, it’s so different and looks so pretty against my skin tone. I will do a tutorial for you using this tomorrow.
Lastly on my way to the till I saw the Caudlie beauty Elixir, I have never tried this… SHOCK HORROR. So I was really just getting this based on blog reviews, and it really is refreshing. The smell is relaxing and it does refresh your makeup, my only concern is the alcohol content on the skin, but I will see over time how my skin reacts but so far so good.
There are so many more products that I want to try from Space NK, and next year I’m going to really concentrate on my skin heath so a trip back there will be in order. Let me know what your favorite picks from Nars or Space NK are.
