/ Beauty, Make Up

I am obsessed with glowing dewy skin, of course your skincare, primers and foundations all help with that, but the extra step of highlighting can really cheat your way to a youthful, healthy complexion (if done correctly that is). It also adds dimension to your face and can exaggerate your cheek bones making your face look slimmer. Here are the ones that I currently grab when I want that little bit extra.

I tend to stay away from formulas that are too chunky, during the day I dont want to have a disco ball on my face and natural sunlight can be really unforgiving if you have very sparkly highlights.  In the evening you can have a little more fun and play but my top tip is to look for highlighters with fine pearl particles and start lightly, it’s easier to add than take away.

MAC Strobe Cream: This is a white, thin lotion and reminds me of the L’oreal Lumi primer in the way it looks on the skin. I like to put this under my makeup as the consistency tends to wipe my foundation away. This looks great to the high points of your face as well as mixing a little with your foundation.

Soap and Glory Glow All Out: Soap and Glory really have some real stars in their make-up line and this is one of them! It’s a finely milled highlighter that’s not to shimmery on the skin and adds a beautiful highlight to the top of the cheeks. It’s easy to use and a little goes a long way and sits nicely on the skin.

Benefit Moonbeam : This is a cult product, I remember getting one of these when I was about 16 and it has been around for a while. It’s a slightly thinner formula but it’s real easy to blend into the skin. It’s a great one for those no make up make up days, and if you have amazing skin it also looks good alone. I like to mix this in with my moisturiser or foundation for an all over glow, or again just on the high points of my face.

No7 Skin Iluminator: well the name says it all. I saw this a couple of years ago in a Lisa Eldridge video, so I had to go out and try it, and she was right. It sits beautifully on the skin and adds just the right amount of glow. a small amount is all you need and you can put this on top of foundation as it’s a good consistency not to take away your foundation. It has a brush applicator on the end, which I don’t use, it gets stuck and mangled quite quickly so it’s best to squeeze it through and use your fingers or one of your own brushes.

No7 instant radiance highlighter: Like the others it looks gorgeous on the skin and has a handy application. It looks pretty on the skin, it’s affordable and easy to use. You also get a lot of product for your money.

I will be adding a ‘how to highlight’ video on my youtube chanel to go along side this post.
