/ Beauty, Skin Care

My second favourite part of the day well…i’m not counting spending time with the kids breakfast, lunch, dinner etc etc.. I love taking off my makeup. It feels so good, especially as I have oily skin as sometimes by the end of the day my face feels like a big oil slick. Again I do interchange depending on what my skin is doing, but these are the ones that get featured mostly in my routines.

Evening skin care routine

In the evening I start of by taking my eye makeup off. I wear contact lenses most days so my eyes can feel really dry, even with drops and sprays, so I look forward to taking my eye makeup off a lot. I have tried the L’oreal version, as well as this Garnier one both dupes for Bioderma, and I must say this one is my fave. It comes in a huge bottle which doesn’t spill (unlike the L’oreal) and it doesn’t sting my eyes, I find it really soothing and really does take off all my eye make up. I don’t really wear waterproof mascara as my eyelashes are naturally curly so i can’t comment, but it really does work well.

I then move onto cleansers, I tend to use the same in the morning as I do in the evening. If i have been wearing a lot of makeup or something like Estee Lauder Double Wear, I will use an oil based cleanser like my Clinique Take The Day Off, or my Emma Hardy. I tend not to wear such heavy base makeup in the summer months. I do double cleanse only if I feel its really necessary.

Exfoliation is next, I have added this one recently the indeed labs powder exfoliator, and I love it. You mix a little in your had with water and it foams up. Then you massage it into your face for 1 minute and wash it off, and you’re left with some seriously soft skin! I’m not joking. If you would like a more detailed review on this I will do a further blog post.

Then comes the further chemical exfoliation, I have been using this Clarins gentle exfoliator for about 18 months, I use it about 3 to 4 times a week. It’s really lovely, I should add I don’t have sensitive skin and it leaves me with more even skin in the morning. I wait for it to sink into my skin before I move on to my next step. If my skin is being particularly mental, I will use my Alpha H Liquid Gold. Oldie but goodie. This is serious stuff, you can feel it working straight away. I just put this on a cotton pad, wipe it across my face and neck and that’s it, no moisturising  needed. I wake up, and I have a new face. I will use my liquid gold about 1 – 2 times a week, not religiously though as it’s my break out go to.

I then use my eye cream, at the moment I’m trying out the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery eye cream, I like it but it’s early days on this one. I have always gone for one’s that add hydration rather than looking for labels that say “anti age” again I’m looking for the one with eye cream. So any suggestions, please let me know.

Then Its serum time, I use my Kiehl’s Dark Spot Solution (mentioned in previous posts). I have others, but I’m giving this one a real go for at least 3 – 6 months so I can monitor the change in my skin.

My last step is to moisturise, there is another product in the photo, that’s my Murad exfoliating blemish gel. If I’m having a bad skin day, or it’s that time of the month, I mix half a pump in with face cream and it clears my skin without drying it out. At the moment I am using Nivia’s Pure and Natural Anti Ageing Night Cream. This has a strong perfumed smell, so not great if you don’t like scented products but it’s a super rich cream and sinks well into my skin. Most nights I use it over my Trilogy Rosehip Oil, and it seals the oil into my skin so I wake up with lovely soft smooth skin.

If you have any night-time faves please let me know, I would love to try some of your recommendations.
